Great article on changing face of higher education (from France)

Hi all,

There are lots of interesting innovations happening in the higher ed space, and I wanted to share this article that I came across in the Chronicle of Higher Ed. It speaks about a new school in France, called “42”, for talented students of technology / computer science. The France higher ed system is traditionally very rigid and somewhat elitist: if you don’t graduate from the right prep schools or get excellent scores on your pre-college qualifying exams, it can be difficult to get into top universities and then top professional posts. This school seems to be changing that in some ways because it’s open to anyone; entrance is based only on an aptitude test. Once students arrive, they learn and are tested through games and competitions. There are no professors and no grades. The school is supposedly already more selective in its admissions than Harvard and its graduates are highly sought after.
